Due to our business expansion, we are seeking for high calibre and motivated individuals to join us in a dynamic and challenging industry as:

Piping Engineer (Based in Vietnam)

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with SSY’s D&E dept with respect to production of shop drawings, pipe lofting and routing of pipe systems. Ensure shop drawing is in compliance with Consultant’s P&ID’s
  • Coordinate with Engineering department in order to issue drawings to meet production schedule and requirements
  • Check Shop drawings are correct, particularly on obstructions and conflicts with other trades
  • Coordinate with Machinery Engineer to have correct interface piping with machinery and coordinate installation schedule
  • Plan production work, consistent with master Production Schedule and follow Piping Manager instructions
  • Coordinate with Material Controller, check and confirm all piping materials, fittings, valves, etc. shown on P&ID’s are available on stock
  • Lead and direct supervisors and workers to fabricate, weld, test and install piping
  • Organize and direct supervisors and workers to install fabricated pipe spools into blocks/Ship
  • Perform pressure test and/or line flushing as needed
  • Coordinate with other trades (e.g. machinery/accommodation/hull/electrical/safety)
  • Liaise with QC for inspection and testing
  • * Ensure the installation is in compliance with all Class and statutory requirements, and follows established engineering practices
  • Ensure quality and workmanship complies with good marine practices and per SSY’s current Shipbuilding Quality Standards & Practices Manual, or other recognized manuals
  • Arrange daily job to the foreman/supervisor
  • Report to Assist Piping manager the progress, planning etc
  • Coordinate with the Safety department for compliance with Health, Safety and Environment procedures
  • Assist commissioning engineers for efficient commissioning/start-up and to perform acceptance inspection according to approved check-list
  • Participate in sea-trial test runs and dock-trial test runs
  • To handle ad-hoc projects or duties as assigned by the management when required

Requirements:

  • Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in shipbuilding and project environment
  • Able to read and study steel work drawing, special the block drawing
  • Able to read and study vendor / consultant drawing, (Small size pipe will without shop drawing)
  • Good understanding of pipe fabrication/installation sequences
  • Good spoken / written communication of English
  • Good interpersonal skills and outgoing personality
  • Knowledge / experience in lifting and rigging
  • Knowledge / experience in machinery installation, operation and workshop machining
